Infant Craniosacral Therapy & Chiropractic Bodywork

POSTPARTUM

Did you just find out you or your little one might have a tongue tie? This can be overwhelming at the beginning, but we are here to help you through the process.

Step one: Identify the Tie. This might have been brought up by another provider such as a dentist, lactation consultant, ENT or self-diagnosed. We can also check here to see if you have a tie.

Step two: Evaluate Function. Is the tie effecting feeding, speech, midline tension, delays in milestones, enlargement of tonsils and or adenoids, orthodontic issues, neck pain, TMJ dysfunction, sleep apnea or sleep disordered breathing.

Step three: Determine a Treatment Plan. This may include working with other providers such as frenectomy providers, myofunctional therapists, lactation consultants and of course us your chiropractor.

Step four: Bodywork and Chiropractic Care. Adjustments using sustained contact, instrument assisted or manual adjustments to the spine and TMJ. Craniosacral Therapy (CST), a type of bodywork technique that uses gentle pressure on the head, neck, and back to release tension and discomfort caused by compensations. The focus of CST is to promote the movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system, with the goal of enhancing the body’s natural healing abilities. Intraoral work including tongue stretching and massage and palate stretches.

Step five: At Home Care Recommendations: Exercises to perform at home to help stretch and strengthen and help maintain adjustments.

Step six: Open Communication: We will work with your plan, keeping it fluid to ensure we do what’s best for your body and communicate with any other providers you are also working with.
